Unlatch Repeat for fading decays (full toe down EXP PED for near-instant decay / gating.ĮXP PED swaps delay times + Wow / Flutter settings for resonance & pitch change FX. Latch Repeat for frozen resonance that can be swept for weird stutter / hetereodyne FX. Wild flanging & filter matrix FX with sweeps. it's all about the short delay times with heavy feedback. Call it a lo-fi reverb, metallic pipe delay, tuned / detuned resonator, flange mangler. The results are more along the lines of resonant delays and pitch shifting with dark, foreboding undertones. Ok, this is not what you think of when you think "looper", but technically, it uses many of the same concepts. All this can be done in the background (input + ducked delays), or the foreground (no input + delay levels up). Or rhythmic imprints over the recirculating FEEDBACK. It can bend the apparent pitch, or 'erase' the drones with micro-delay times. It can change the beating ratio between tubular sounds. A switch to Tempo mode will quantize your parameter ranges in interesting ways.īut this kind of 'time modulation' gives up several effects depending on how & when you use it. DELAY A goes from 75mS to 25mS, while DELAY B drops from 100 mS to 50 mS.

At first glance, there's nothing special with the expression pedal programming. No HotSwitch here, but the Performance Switch controls REPEAT (yet another variable locking the frozen sound). Longer input notes disguise the discrete echo repeats, and finger vibrato can coax the drones back seamlessly. A quick note release snaps the drone level back, while a legato fade or string decay will gradually bring up the held sound. This THRESHOLD setting ensures that most any input note will cause the drones to duck down. The two DELAYs set up parallel 'drones' with infinite FEEDBACK (which the inline FILTER will eventually 'decay'. It's a unique variation on FREEZE, with footswitch action replaced by your playing technique and dynamics. But the Ducked Delay algorithm can be set up as automated switching between new input, and the trailing drones.

And that can be most any of the TimeFactor or PitchFactor algorithms. With over 180 presets at your disposal, several are artist-based, from the likes of Vernon Reid, Danny Gomez, Headsnack, Richard Devine, Symbion Project and others. The coarser delay-based take on resonant filtering can make for some unusual drones. Other useful features include the Wobble control (for detuning effects) and the MixLock (which keeps the wet/dry mix constant while scrolling through presets). The Ribbon feature control allows you to program two settings/combinations while transitioning between the two and the HotSwitch permits you to jump instantly to alternate settings at the push (click) of a button.

And although ideal for studio use, it was designed for live use, as well. MangledVerb is very flexible as you can have mono-in/mono-out, mono-in, stereo-out or stereo-in/stereo out (for those who don’t care if it’s mono and for those who demand nothing but stereo). Ported directly from the award-winning H9 Harmonizer®, MangledVerb is capable of creating lush reverbs, ripping distortion leads and sound-sculpting musical chaos. This plug-in derives from the Eventide H9 hardware (combining a variable pre-delay into a stereo reverb, then into a distortion), and although the algorithm can allow for some lush reverbs, you can make them extremely edgy and chaotic for a modern and industrialized sound. MangledVerb is a unique effect combining reverb and distortion. Although MangledVerb offers some straight-up presets to add zing to your drums and other instruments, those with a longer decay and more drive are fantastically unique and sometimes downright creepy and eerie. When you combine reverb with distortion you get some darn freaky results.
